Shirley Li   

Shirley Li is one of today’s generation of passionate music educators.  Her ability to inspire students coupled with her innate superior musicianship and unique teaching skills make her a truly influential, in-demand instructor.  She also combines percussion and piano learning together, and has earned widespread respect as a pianist for a broad range of concerts performances.  Shirley began both piano and percussion lessons at the age of six.   As a primary school student, she took part in numerous competitions, including the Hong Kong School Music Festival where she studied a host of repertoires from various historical periods, leading to her development as an all-around musician. In 2019, she graduated from the Education University of Hong Kong with a postgraduate degree in music education. Her research studies centred on:  music pedagogy, including the influences of today’s contemporary music culture on young music learners, how to perform in more innovative ways, and the general influences of academic performance on music education in Hong Kong.  These days, Shirley continues her role as a dedicated leader in the music education field while also contributing her enthusiasm and experience in live music performances.  To date, she has shared the stage with a diverse assortment of orchestras, including: the Hong Kong Amateur Orchestra, Hong Kong Pop Orchestra, Hong Kong Golden Philharmonia, Asian Chamber Orchestra, and Hong Kong Metropolitan Pop Orchestra. She has also worked closely with some of Hong Kong’s top Cantopop singers:  Lui Fong, Sammi Cheng, C AllStar, William So, Sugar Club, Mag Lam, Phil Lam, Ken Hung, Adason Lo, Donald Cheung, Fung Bobo, and Kellyjackie.  Moreover, Shirley has also been invited to appear at live national performances, including the 2008 Beijing Olympics, National Day, and HKSAR Establishment Day. Shirley’s teaching and performance abilities convey a special warmth. It’s all part of her mission to touch everyone’s heart with the charms and excitement of music.
